Thierry Henry has expressed his surprise at Arsene Wenger’s decision to drop Alexandre Laczette to the bench for Arsenal’s match with Liverpool.

With Alexis Sanchez returning to fitness, room needed to be found in the side for the Chilean forward.

The Arsenal manager explained: ‘Lacazette is still in the adaption phase it’s down to the fact the trio finished well the season and they are used to big occasions in the Premier League. It’s difficult to choose from.’

Fans were furious with the decision while Henry, the club’s all-time top scorer, said he would have wanted to see Lacazette start at Anfield.
